Colombian legend Adolfo Valencia made a bold claim regarding Argentinean skipper Lionel Messi. The 56-year-old remarked that the Inter Miami star is well past his prime, while expressing confidence that Colombia could win the Copa America.

Lionel Messi is looking forward to helping his national side win a second successive Copa America title, this weekend. After guiding his country to victory in the 2021 Copa America and the 2022 World Cup, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has the opportunity to achieve three consecutive major trophies. In a relatively subdued tournament, Messi has only scored one goal so far, which came in the semi-final win against Canada.

They will face a tough challenge in their opponent Colombia, who have arguably been the best team in the competition. Colombian striker Adolfo Valencia expressed that Messi is no longer the same player who dominated defenses in his youth, exclaiming that his age has reduced his speed and dribbling ability.
