Archie Manning, former American football quarterback, revealed that he would prefer his grandson Arch Manning to play for the Dallas Cowboys. Arch Manning, 19, currently plays for Texas Longhorns in the Southeastern Conference in the NCAA Division I FBS football.
Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns are sitting on the second spot in the College Football Playoff after a successful season with an 11-1 overall record. Their only loss came against the Georgia Bulldogs, whom they will play in the SEC Championship on Saturday, December 7.
Arch Manning has three more years of NCAA eligibility which his granddad thinks he should utilize. The 75-year-old father of three named Dallas Cowboys as a right-off-the-bat answer to where he wants his grandchild in three years.

Archie Manning has previously influenced the team of one of his children, Eli Manning. Eli is Arch Manning’s uncle, and brother to Arch’s dad Cooper Manning. In 2004, the senior Manning played a pivotal role in his son Eli’s trade to the New York Giants after he was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers, insisting that they didn’t want him to play in San Diego.
Arch Manning has had limited playing time over two seasons, serving as a backup to starter Quinn Ewers. In 2023, Manning made two appearances, still considered a freshman, and threw for 939 yards, with nine touchdowns and two interceptions in seven games.
What are Arch Manning’s immediate plans?
In Arch Manning’s two starts against Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State, Manning completed 41 of 60 passes for over 550 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. The Longhorns won both games. The young star who has years left in his collegiate era might make it to the SEC Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Dawgs are the only team to defeat the Horns this season. With a first-round bye in sight, the Longhorns have a lot running on the championship game. They are one among the three teams who can finish as the No. 1 seed after the championship week. The other two teams are the Oregon Ducks and Penn State Nittany Lions.
Looking ahead to 2025, Manning’s future is unclear, with rumors suggesting he might transfer from Texas. Although he hasn’t commented on these rumors, his high NIL valuation and the chance that Ewers will return next season have led to speculation about where he could go.
If Manning decides to transfer, the SEC seems like a likely destination, with schools like Georgia, Alabama, and LSU showing interest during his initial recruitment. LSU, in particular, could require a quarterback after Bryce Underwood flipped to Michigan. Additionally, Ole Miss could be a contender, especially with Jaxson Dart set to move on after this season. Similar Ole Miss rumors had floated last year as well when Ewers ended up not declaring for the NFL Draft.
