Before the Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl LIX, it was Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs who were having a dynastical run. Had they won their third straight Lombardi trophy, the Andy Reid‘s side would have made it four Super Bowl wins in six seasons. Jalen Hurts and his team demolishing those chances have opened up another possibility.
This was the second trip in three seasons, where the Eagles went to the big game. It is also the third trip and second win in eight seasons. The leadership of owner Jeffrey Lurie, President Don Smolenski and GM Howie Roseman seem to have a vision in place.
Otherwise, one cannot explain how the team is reaching these heights in such a short span of time. Not many teams in the league can boast of such a record. However, other teams are knocking on their doors as the Chiefs do not seem to be going away unless they miss out on some crucial pieces.
Other standout franchises such as the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills will likely work on their shortcomings in the offseason. Then there are the upstart Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions, all within striking distance of winning it all.
Earlier in the season, they were not billed as favorites to win it all. There were question marks the team needed to answer. Now, after winning Super Bowl LIX, most of those answers are clear. Howie Roseman has built a team that can continue to stay at the top.
Jalen Hurts and the offense
Jalen Hurts dispelled all the criticisms surrounding him to lead the Philadelphia Eagles to their second ever Super Bowl. To the surprise of many, he delivered in the big games, shedding the notion that he was not an elite quarterback.

Sure, he is not in the same realm as Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow. But he does what his team needs him to do, that too at a team friendly contract. To help him do his job safely, the team also possess an outstanding offensive line.
Except for Lane Johnson, the line is young, and many are tied down to long term deals. The only free agent is standout tackled turned guard Mekhi Beckton. If Johnson does not retire, Roseman can address Becton’s future and draft Johnson’s eventual replacement—unless either of them is confident in one of their younger linemen.
Saquon Barkley has two years left on his deal and still won’t be 30. Leading wideouts AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith are tied down until at least the 2028 season. Only offseason addition Jahan Dotson is eligible for an extension, but he might not cost a bomb to retain.
Jalen Carter and the defense
Coming to the defense, the unit has everyone shaken. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the Chiefs offense was definitely one of them who could not even cross midfield in the first half of Super Bowl. Such was their domination that everyone is turning their attention to what constitutes an elite defense.

Neither of the pass rushers on the Eagles are $30 million superstars. Their primary point of attack is made up of draft picks Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and soon to be free agent Milton Williams. They do, however, have backups ready, just in case Williams bolts for a bigger deal.
Their most expensive player this season was Josh Sweat. They did try to move him this past season, but he did not find takers. His 2.5 sacks in Super Bowl LIX might now get him that elusive contract. If he moves on, another draftee, Nolan Smith, showed he is progressing at an elite rate.
Once Bryce Huff is healthy, the Eagles will have a young hungry set of defenders at the line. Now they need to focus on extending Zack Baun. He was cast away by all his previous teams, but found his calling with the Eagles. An All-Pro 1st team callup should net him a good deal.
That might be the only expenditure Howie Roseman might want to do. He does not have anything to worry about in the backfield. Those young studs played at a level which no one envisioned them to. Darius Slay will enter the final season of his career, therefore, there is not much anyone needs to do there.
Nick Sirianni and the Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff
The only area where Roseman and other executives will have to look into is the offensive coordinator position. Kellen Moore has leveraged his excellent play calling this season into becoming the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

Head coach Nick Sirianni isn’t worrying about finding a replacement. However, he must remember that inept coaching marred their 2023-24 season. Sirianni and Roseman know if they have to keep the wheels churning in the right direction, the right pieces have to be in place.
Vic Fangio might not leave, however, he is 66 years old and Sirianni will have to keep a tab on promoting someone eligible down the line. The most important factor here is to keep the culture the same. Sean McVay has done it with aplomb at the Los Angeles Rams.
Following a similar philosophy can help turn this Super Bowl LIX win into a dynastical run. All owner Jeffrey Lurie needs to do is to ensure his vision stays the same from top to bottom. If security chief ‘Big Dom’ Dom DiSandro has shown he has the philosophy running in his veins, Sirianni has to coach up his assistants to the same standard.
This team has all the ingredients to become a dynasty. They have proved that no one should take them lightly. They demolished the Chiefs from securing a three-peat and cost Patrick Mahomes a place in the GOAT debate. Might as well take up their place at the top of the league.
