Argentinean national team players chanted a song that translated into “winning another Copa with Leo Messi is all I hope for” in honor of their star skipper Lionel Messi. The 36-year-old will lead the team at the 2024 Copa America in the USA.

The Argentinean national side is all ready, beaming with excitement and exhilaration to participate at Copa America. En route to their training ground ahead of their first match against Canada, the La Albiceleste players were seen singing praises of their captain, Messi. Argentina will be hoping to retain the trophy for the second consecutive year, after winning it previously in 2021.

Lionel Messi, a household figure for Argentine fans, will be expected to lead the national side to his third major trophy, after winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In a recent ESPN interview, the Inter Miami star hinted at possible retirement. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner holds the record for the most goals and appearances for Argentina, having scored 108 goals in 182 matches. Additionally, this will be his 12th major international tournament.

The current Argentinean squad, featuring players such as Alexis Mac Allister, Rodrigo De Paul, and Enzo Fernandez, was seen singing a song in Spanish. Fans reacted to the video, suggesting that Messi is the most loved and idolized player.

26 players have made it to Argentina’s final squad for the 2024 Copa America to be held in the USA. Lionel Messi will lead the side, along with vice-captain Angel Di Maria, who will retire at the end of the tournament.

The 26-man Argentine squad is currently training at Kennesaw State University Stadium in Georgia, USA. They have been placed in a challenging Group A with Chile, Peru, and Canada. Despite including several notable names, coach Lionel Scaloni surprisingly left out Roma forward Paulo Dybala. Key players in the squad include Emiliano Martinez, Cristian Romero, De Paul, Enzo, Mac Allister, and Lautaro Martinez.

Meanwhile, it would also be interesting to watch out for a few youngsters. Julian Alvarez, Leverkusen’s Exequiel Palacios, Valentin Carboni and 19-year old United star, Alejandro Garnacho are the ones.
