Arman Tsarukyan and Diego Lopes couldn’t have had a better night at UFC 300. Both of them shocked the world and registered wins against their respective opponents at the historic event. However, it appears the fighters have yet to receive the fight purse for their win.
According to reports, the Nevada State Athletic Commission has held Lopes’s fight purse due to his jump over the cage after defeating Sodiq Yusuff. Lopes sat on top of the cage and asked Dana White if he could jump out and have a chat. White agreed, and Diego Lopes jumped outside the octagon. Lopes’ representatives have claimed the fighter had prior permission to do so and will argue that point during the hearing.
Similarly, UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan got into some controversy when he punched a fan in the crowd. The Armenian fighter claimed that the fan cursed at him and showed him the middle finger when he walked out to the octagon. Tsarukyan is scheduled to meet with NSAC next Tuesday, and his purse is on hold until then.
The fan has already accepted his mistake and publicly mentioned that he doesn’t want to file a lawsuit against the promotion. Instead, the fan asked Tsarukyan to get him tickets for UFC 303, to which the fighter has agreed. Despite clearing out any confusion or issues, the NSAC will only release the fight purse after having an official hearing.
Arman Tsarukyan didn’t surprise Islam Makhachev after turning down the fight offer at UFC 302
After Arman Tsarukyan defeated Charles Oliveira at UFC 300, he was immediately asked to fight Islam Makhachev. However, Tsarukyan claimed he refused it as it was a short-noticed fight. The fighter revealed he didn’t want to take risks for his first-ever title shot against the pound-for-pound champion.
Makhachev predicted Tsarukyan’s decision and wasn’t that surprised by it. Moreover, the champion made a huge claim about Tsarukyan, who had previously turned down a matchup more than once.
I’m not surprised. Because this guy talks about rematch all his life, but… this maybe 3rd or 4th time UFC gave him a chance to fight with me and he said no.Islam Makhachev via New York Post Sports
This won’t be the first time the pair will fight each other, as Makhachev has already defeated Tsarukyan in 2019. However, Tsarukyan put up a great fight and gave Makhachev a tough challenge with his wrestling. Coincidentally, ‘Ahalkalakets’ took that fight on short notice and didn’t want to make the same mistake again this time.
