MMA has long been a sport fueled by underdog stories with tales of fighters rising from poverty to global stardom. Look no further than Charles Oliveira, who emerged from the favelas of Brazil, or Francis Ngannou, who once shoveled sand in the mines of Cameroon before becoming a champion. These “rags to riches” narratives have defined the soul of the sport. But Arman Tsarukyan breaks that mold entirely.
Unlike many of his peers, the #2 ranked lightweight contender didn’t come from hardship. Born into wealth, Tsarukyan is the son of Nairi Tsarukyan, a successful figure in Armenia’s construction industry. His lavish lifestyle is no secret as his social media is filled with supercars, luxury fashion, and high-end collectibles. One recent clip shows just how different his world is.
In the video, Tsarukyan is visibly upset, not over a loss or injury, but over a prized possession: a million-dollar watch collection. In the clip posted by Red Corner MMA (h/t JAXXON podcast), the Armenian star lambasted the host of the JAXXON podcast, Bear Degidio, for his negligence and leaving Tsarukyan’s closet door open that had the aforementioned $1 million watch collection.
Bro, why you opened the f***ing door? Why you like, leave, and opened the door..the closet..today? 1 million dollar watch there is. Bro, $1 million watch collection.

What was meant to be a harmless prank ended up visibly frustrating Tsarukyan. The culprit? Degidio, who revealed the stunt while facing the camera after Tsarukyan stormed off. He was still annoyed and glanced back with frustration over the host’s carelessness.
I opened up his closet door this morning while he was sleeping. Messed with all his watches, left the door wide open, and ran out of the house. He’s living at my house for the next 8 weeks!

For those unaware, Tsarukyan is currently living and training with Khamzat Chimaev as part of the middleweight contender’s camp ahead of his UFC 319 title fight against Dricus Du Plessis. The camp is hosted at a gym connected to JAXXON’s media house, the podcast hosted by former light heavyweight kingpin Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Degidio.
This marks Chimaev’s return to U.S. soil for the first time since his dominant win over Kevin Holland at UFC 279. Meanwhile, Tsarukyan is looking to climb his way back into the lightweight title picture after a significant setback as he missed weight and lost his title shot against Islam Makhachev at UFC 311. Since then, he’s kept active, competing in two grappling matches, including a recent win over Patricky Pitbull.
Tsarukyan also made weight as the backup fighter for the UFC 317 title fight between Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliveira, seemingly redeeming himself. However, despite that, Dana White stated that Tsarukyan was still not next for the title opportunity. With all eyes on his next move, it’ll be interesting to see how and when Tsarukyan gets another chance at gold.

As already mentioned, Tsarukyan has been helping out Chimaev for the biggest fight of his career. Apart from the Armenian, ‘Borz’ has been joined by the likes of T.J. Dillashaw as part of his training camp to beat the unorthodox challenge of Dricus Du Plessis. For the unversed, Chimaev overpowered the #1 lightweight contender in a grappling match for Hype Fighting Championship last December.

Since then, the two powerhouses have joined forces and trained together. Amidst this, the Armenian gave updates on ‘Borz’ in a video posted by the JAXXON podcast ahead of his middleweight title fight at UFC 319.
He looks sharp, so (I’m) excited to see him as a UFC champion. So far, his camp is going well. He’s healthy. He has a lot of energy, and I’m just here to help him. Whatever they need: If they need the wrestling, I’ll wrestle. If they need striking, I’ll strike. I’m here to help, and I want him to be a UFC champ.

Chimaev moved to the 185lbs division after his weight cut to 170lbs started getting difficult. Since then, he slayed former champions, Kamaru Usman and Robert Whittaker at UFC 294 and UFC 308, respectively. With an unorthodox South African in his path, ‘Borz’ is just one step away from realizing his dream of holding the UFC gold.
