Most UFC fighters rise from struggle, driven by hunger to become superstars and earn millions through fame, success, and hard work. However, for top lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan, the story is different as he comes from a well-off background. This has drawn some criticism, but also respect for choosing a brutal sport despite having no financial motivation behind it.
While most fighters show off riches like cars and luxury after success, Tsarukyan already had it before he began fighting. The Armenian initially joined the UFC just to earn Instagram verification, but now has shifted his focus to getting the belt. In a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Tsarukyan addressed fan comments and criticism about his privileged lifestyle and wealth.
People are jealous that I have money. I don’t have too much money, but I can live, I can do whatever I want in this life. I can buy whatever I want, but I cannot buy private jet. I cannot buy private yacht.

Tsarukyan is often seen with luxury cars, dining at high-end restaurants, and training at some of the world’s top facilities. The lightweight contender has openly acknowledged his privileged lifestyle and never tried to hide the wealth he was born into. Despite criticism, he remains focused on fighting and proving his worth inside the octagon and recently opened up about his father’s business.
He’s in the construction business. I used to work three months with him, and I said, ‘No way I can be here anymore. I want to be in a sport.’ That’s so hard job. I grew up with sport and always eat clean, go to bed right time, but in the business, I was three months there and I had no good schedule… Better to be in the sport than in the big business.

All that money has definitely benefited Tsarukyan, but he’s already proven his skill and toughness inside the UFC octagon repeatedly. He holds impressive wins over elite fighters like Charles Oliveira, Beneil Dariush, and remains well known for his incredible grappling abilities. Now, Tsarukyan is focused on securing a title shot against Ilia Topuria and settling their heated and growing rivalry soon.
Arman Tsarukyan promises to destroy the new UFC lightweight champion
At UFC 311, Arman Tsarukyan was close to challenging Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title in a highly anticipated bout. Unfortunately, a last-minute back injury forced him to pull out, leaving fans and the UFC promotion deeply disappointed and frustrated. Dana White stated Tsarukyan must re-earn his spot, and the Armenian contender is now doing exactly that.

At UFC 317, Tsarukyan successfully made the 155-pound mark, and was ready to step in if Ilia Topuria or Charles Oliveira pulled out. However, he was roasted by the ‘El Matador’, who claimed Tsarukyan was scared after watching Oliveira’s brutal knockout. In a recent interview with Daniel Cormier, Tsarukyan revealed his detailed game plan to defeat Topuria in the octagon.
I’m going to strike him, kick him. I watched his first fight and he was wrestling a little bit, and he got so tired, and he’s never fought a wrestler like me. Bryce Mitchell, he’s the worst fighter at 145, he took him down and held him from a crazy position. And I can tell he’s not high-level, it’s not WWE. I’ll send Topuria back to the Top 15 pound-for-pound. For me, it’s easier to fight Topuria than Oliveira. You can go take him down a thousand times, because he’s not going to try to choke you or something.

However, Topuria is currently more focused on ending his long-standing rivalry with Paddy Pimblett, whom he faced off against last weekend. The Georgian-Spanish fighter believes this matchup attracts more attention, as fans are desperate to see the showdown happen. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to watch how the UFC handles this situation and balances both exciting potential matchups.
