In Short
  • Arman Tsarukyan dominated Urijah Faber at RAF 08, winning by a 13-1 technical fall.
  • The match featured a chaotic moment when Tsarukyan drove Faber into the commentary area, surprising analysts.
  • Following the victory, Tsarukyan called out Colby Covington for a potential matchup, aiming for a decisive win.

Arman Tsarukyan remains one of the most recognizable names in the UFC despite competing just once since 2024. This was driven by a rapidly growing, highly visible public persona through online appearances and consistent participation in RAF wrestling events. That was evident at RAF 08, where he dominated Urijah Faber and forcefully drove the veteran completely off the mat during an exchange.

The RAF 08 card was originally set to be headlined by Merab Dvalishvili vs Henry Cejudo, but Cejudo’s injury forced a late change that elevated Arman Tsarukyan vs Urijah Faber to the main event. Tsarukyan took control early with repeated takedowns and gut-wrench sequences, building a commanding points lead as he consistently dictated position and pace before sealing a 13-1 technical fall victory.

Chaos unfolded mid-bout when Tsarukyan drove Faber off the mat and into the commentary area, sending both crashing into a desk occupied by Chael Sonnen, Kurt Angle, and Cyrus Fees, all of whom were visibly stunned by the sudden impact. The sequence quickly became the standout moment of the night at the Liacouras Center, overshadowing much of the action due to its sheer unpredictability.

This was not the first time Tsarukyan found himself at the center of chaos at RAF events. He had previously been involved in a heated altercation with Georgio Poullas at RAF 06 that escalated into a brawl and became the highlight of the night. However, that rivalry eventually cooled after the Armenian lightweight secured a second victory over Poullas, putting a definitive end to their brief but intense feud.

Tsarukyan has repeatedly found himself in controversy, with a pattern of incidents impacting his title trajectory. That reputation has contributed to missed opportunities, including disciplinary action after his UFC 300 walkout, when he struck a fan, resulting in a $25,000 fine and a nine-month suspension. He also headbutted Dan Hooker during a faceoff ahead of their UFC Qatar matchup, putting the bout at risk.

This marked the fourth straight appearance for Arman Tsarukyan under the RAF banner in recent months, a run that has steadily rebuilt his activity and visibility outside the UFC. That consistency has begun to put him back on UFC CEO Dana White‘s radar, who has remained hesitant due to concerns about the Armenian star’s behavior. This stretch is a crucial step as he looks to reestablish himself in title contention.

Arman Tsarukyan calls out controversial UFC welterweight for RAF matchup

Real American Freestyle has rapidly expanded its reach across global markets, establishing itself as one of the fastest-growing wrestling promotions in the sport. Much of that rise has been driven by a steady influx of UFC talent, which has brought mainstream visibility and competitive credibility to the platform. Among the most active names in that transition have been Arman Tsarukyan and Colby Covington.

Following his win over Urijah Faber at RAF 08, Tsarukyan called out Covington, who was seated in the crowd, drawing attention to a potential matchup. The two shared a brief handshake, but Covington continued his verbal jabs and vowed to end Tsarukyan’s winning streak as the two agreed to the matchup. However, the Armenian superstar made an aggressive prediction about Covington’s future at the press conference.

I’m looking for 10-0. I don’t want to give him any points like I gave to Urijah because he’s old, and it’s not good to win 10-0. But against Colby, I’m going to go hard, try to go 10-0. Everybody is going to forget about him in wrestling, and everybody has already forgotten about him in the UFC.

Colby Covington has already called out UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev for a potential RAF bout, with ‘Borz’ expected to make his promotional debut in the near future. At the same time, ‘Chaos’ is linked to an upcoming matchup against Chris Weidman at RAF 09 but has shown a willingness to delay those plans if a clash with Arman Tsarukyan materializes, opening multiple high-profile paths.
