Arman Tsarukyan is undoubtedly one of the most talented fighters in the UFC lightweight division. The fighter has successfully carved his way to become the top candidate for the lightweight title. Remarkably, this journey to the pinnacle of MMA was never part of the Armenian fighter’s childhood plans.
Tsarukyan began his professional MMA career in 2015 and has since built an impressive record of 22 wins and 3 losses. His meteoric rise in the UFC includes victories over several top opponents. However, in a recent interview, Tsarukyan revealed the unconventional reasons that initially motivated him to pursue UFC.
When I was 19 years old, I already had 3-4 fights. I just told my friend, I just wanna get UFC, get on my Instagram verification and the uniform from UFC and that’s it. I don’t want anything from this sport but then I keep winning the fights and people started to tell me that you are a good fighter.

Both Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan are highly skilled wrestlers, leading fans to anticipate an intense technical showdown. On a recent podcast, former UFC champion Luke Rockhold shared his thoughts on the matchup. While analyzing the two fighters, Rockhold praised Makhachev for his striking, highlighting it as a key advantage in the fight.
They fought before already but it’s pretty similar to this last match-up. It comes down to endurance pressure and who wants it more…. Islam is a better striker. People don’t give him credit for what he deserves because he’s good on the feet, he can hit hard.

Islam Makhachev is the pound-for-pound best fighter, and has proven himself on multiple occasions. He can submit his opponents and knock them out cold. However, Tsarukyan doesn’t really care about this invincible narrative surrounding the champion. What happens at UFC 311 is anyone’s guess considering the skillset of the fighters.
