Arman Tsarukyan is currently a top five lightweight contender, relentlessly campaigning for a well-deserved title shot due to his winning streak. Despite that, Ilia Topuria, the newly crowned champion, has shown little interest in facing the Armenian fighter anytime soon. Frustrated by the snub, Tsarukyan has escalated his trolling tactics, dragging even former double champ Conor McGregor into the feud.
McGregor, in his prime, was a different beast entirely, dominating opponents with power, confidence, and unmatched charisma in the octagon. Topuria once idolized McGregor deeply, hoping to mirror his rise to fame and replicate his historic double champion success story.
Since joining the UFC, fans have accused Topuria of copying McGregor’s persona, from trash talk to his fashion and walkouts. Tsarukyan recently mocked this on social media and made a hilarious comment that caught everyone’s attention.
Who’s gonna tell him he looks like the Alibaba version of McGregor.

In the post, Arman Tsarukyan shared a meme directly comparing McGregor and Topuria’s tattoos, hairstyles, outfits, and theatrics. He emphasized the tattoo placements, identical public gestures, and even their signature smirks while trash-talking in pre-fight press conferences. Fans quickly noticed how eerily similar Topuria’s recent behavior has been to McGregor’s prime, both inside and outside the octagon.
Tsarukyan mocked the champion for allegedly ducking him, placing a bold $500K bet to provoke and pressure Topuria publicly. He also questioned the El Matador’s wrestling skills, claiming he would dominate and end his undefeated reign inside the octagon. Experts like Sean O’Malley believe Tsarukyan is the biggest threat, which explains why Topuria might be avoiding the matchup.
Besides Tsarukyan, another lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett has accused Topuria of copying McGregor’s persona and failing miserably at it. Pimblett already had an intense face-off with Topuria, sparking tension that many fans believe should be settled inside the octagon. With several suitable contenders, the UFC still hasn’t announced the pound-for-pound king’s first title defense.
Ilia Topuria gets callout from his old rival
Ilia Topuria became the lightweight champion after brutally knocking out Charles Oliveira, showcasing his power and extending his impressive knockout streak. Before that, he made history by defeating legendary Max Holloway, becoming the first fighter to ever knock out the Hawaiian warrior. These back-to-back wins elevated Topuria’s status, proving he’s a dangerous finisher and a true pound-for-pound ace.

Since then, Holloway made an incredible comeback by defeating Dustin Poirier in a five-round war during the latter’s retirement fight. Holloway finally avenged his previous two losses against the ‘Diamond’, proving he’s still elite and dangerous despite all odds. In his latest YouTube video, Holloway expressed a strong interest in facing Topuria again to take his revenge.
We are in the entertainment business right? But it comes down to its legacy. You know what I mean. Like if he can wants to continue to build his legacy of what he has, I’m here right now. You did what you did once, the greats will do it twice.

Despite several top contenders available, Holloway believes a rematch with Topuria would generate the highest pay-per-view numbers for the UFC. He argues that when it comes to delivering exciting, unforgettable moments, few fighters in history can match his entertaining style.
Holloway’s viral “stand and bang” moment significantly boosted his popularity, cementing his status as a fan-favorite across the globe. It remains to be seen whether the UFC views this matchup as a profitable and legitimate title fight opportunity.
