Arman Tsarukyan got a huge payday after Justin Gaethje beat Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250 earlier this month. As a gesture of appreciation for the hefty payday, he had promised to buy the ‘Highlight’ a fitting gift. However, after the newly crowned lightweight champion came out to decline Tsarukyan’s present, the 29-year-old ripped into him for it.

‘Ahalkalakets’ had placed a $1 million bet on Gaethje to upset Topuria. With the oddsmakers having the American as a +470 underdog, the Armenian lightweight’s bet ended up paying out a whopping $5.7 million. With that money, he had promised to buy the 37-year-old a brand new truck. The lightweight champion had even agreed to this earlier, joking about the whole situation with his boss, Dana White.

At the UFC Freedom 250 post-fight press conference, the UFC CEO suggested that Tsarukyan should buy Gaethje a truck made by RAM, a sponsor of the UFC. The two-time former interim champion agreed to this as well, citing the age of his existing truck. However, on a subsequent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, Gaethje declined the lucrative offer, citing his pride as the main reason.

I’m not taking this truck from Arman. I’m not gonna ride around in a truck that a dude bought for me everyday.

Following the refusal of his gesture, Arman Tsarukyan has torn into the UFC lightweight champion. The No. 2 ranked lightweight unleashed an explosive rant aimed at Gaethje during a livestream with frequent collaborator, Nina Drama. He also revealed his plans for the truck now, having already bought it.

He doesn’t deserve that [truck]. I’m just going to give away that car to my followers. Even better, like someone [who] maybe needs that car more than him…I watched that video and I was shocked. Like, if you don’t want to [accept the truck] [expletive] you…I’m going to [expletive] him up in the fight, I can’t wait.

The brand new truck Tsarukyan had gotten for Justin Gaethje wasn’t the only gift he’d bought for someone after winning nearly $6 million on his bet. The Armenian also gifted a $12,000 watch to Nina Drama during a live stream. However, he was warned by middleweight legend Israel Adesanya against spending so much time with content creators while vying for the UFC lightweight title.

Speaking of the lightweight belt, the 29-year-old initially couldn’t believe that it had changed hands at the White House despite betting a million dollars on it.

Arman Tsarukyan was in disbelief that Justin Gaethje beat Ilia Topuria

Very few in the MMA world believed that Justin Gaethje would overcome Ilia Topuria in the UFC Freedom 250 main event. This was reflected in the money line for the bout as well with Gaethje being a massive underdog. As such, this recent lightweight title fight has gone down in MMA history as one of the biggest upsets ever.

However, unlike most, Arman Tsarukyan had actually bet on the Highlight beating Topuria at the White House. Despite him favoring the Spaniard, ‘Ahalkalakets’ had placed the aforementioned million dollar bet on the American.

But when the upset came to fruition, the Armenian lightweight could not believe it. He chronicled his disbelief on the Ariel Helwani Show, revealing the entire ordeal to the veteran journalist.

It turns out Tsarukyan was on a flight when it happened, and he could not bring himself to believe his friend who informed him about the result of the fight after they had landed.

When we land, my internet still didn’t work, but my friend’s internet worked, and he said Justin won. I was like, ‘What?!’ I thought he was kidding. I said, ‘No way. Show me.’ When I saw that, I couldn’t believe it, to be honest.

That said, the 6-0 RAF wrestler confessed that his disbelief was caused more by the incredible amount of money he had won than the result of the fight itself. The 29-year-old did admit that Topuria was a better stylistic matchup for Gaethje than himself or other grapplers in the division like Charles Oliveira. He also revealed that he had set his sights on the championship next.

However, Arman Tsarukyan will likely need to wait quite a while for that title shot after the lightweight champion revealed that he was done fighting for the rest of the year. Nonetheless, the Armenian has his upcoming RAF bout against Colby Covington to keep him busy in the interim.
