Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night bonuses are often the most rewarding parts of a UFC athlete’s evening, offering both financial and professional boosts. Arman Tsarukyan secured such a bonus at UFC Qatar after his main-event win over Dan Hooker. Following the event, he outlined how he plans to use the money. His comments drew attention due to the lavish nature of his intended purchase.
Tsarukyan defeated Hooker via a second-round arm-triangle choke at the UFC’s first-ever event in Qatar. The fight was designated as a No. 1 contender bout for a shot at 155-pound kingpin Ilia Topuria’s title. With the win, Tsarukyan positioned himself at the front of the lightweight queue. He also directed his attention toward Topuria immediately after securing the victory with a heated callout.
Throughout the bout, Tsarukyan controlled Hooker with persistent takedowns and disciplined striking. His pressure increased as the fight progressed, allowing him to advance into dominant ground positions. The transition into the fight-ending arm-triangle was executed cleanly from top control. This performance earned him a bonus, which he later discussed along with his plans for the money.

Tsarukyan expressed interest in acquiring the same luxury watch that middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev owns and even tried it on during their interaction; however, Chimaev instead insisted he keep it. Their friendship has grown over years of training and cornering each other. Chimaev supported Tsarukyan in Qatar, while Tsarukyan cornered Chimaev in his UFC 319 title win over Dricus Du Plessis.
Outside the UFC, Tsarukyan is known for a high-value lifestyle shaped by his financial background. His watch collection has been reported to approach a total value of around one million dollars. He also purchased a new apartment in a scenic area of Moscow just days before the Qatar bout. These details outline the scale of his recent personal investments.
The win in Qatar also carried personal significance for Tsarukyan, as his father, prominent business figure Nairi Tsarukyan, attended the event at the ABHA Arena. He was present cageside throughout the bout. After the submission victory, Tsarukyan met his father inside the venue. Their interaction marked a notable moment following one of the most important wins of his career.
Arman Tsarukyan commends Dan Hooker after UFC Qatar
Arman Tsarukyan returned to competition at UFC Qatar after an extended layoff, last fighting at UFC 300 in April 2024. His activity stalled when he withdrew from his title fight against Islam Makhachev in January 2025 due to a back injury. The Qatar event marked his first appearance since recovering. It also reopened his campaign toward lightweight contention.

Tsarukyan and Hooker were involved in an escalating online rivalry leading up to their matchup. Hooker repeatedly targeted Tsarukyan’s lifestyle, and tensions rose further when Tsarukyan headbutted him during the weigh-in faceoff. Despite the hostility, ‘Ahalkalakets’ maintained that the situation was not personal. This ultimately set the stage for the message he posted on X.
Respect to Dan Hooker for taking the fight. He has bigger balls than champ of the division.

Tsarukyan has repeatedly criticized lightweight contenders who declined opportunities to face him in recent months. He singled out several names while expressing frustration over securing opponents. Among them, he noted that Justin Gaethje had declined the Qatar matchup before Hooker stepped in. These points shaped the context behind his remarks.
