Liverpool manager Arne Slot defended his decision of substituting defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, during the club’s 2-0 win against Brentford. Alexander-Arnold was left visibly frustrated, amid rumors of a possible fall out with the newly appointed manager.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was asked to come off in the 72nd minute of the match, and was subsequently replaced by youngster Conor Bradley. The decision, however, left the 25-year-old right-back dejected, as he frustratingly went to take his place on the bench. He even refrained from speaking to Arne Slot, amid reports of fallout with the Dutchman, who recently arrived at the Anfield from Feyenoord, replacing Jurgen Klopp.
Being a regular under the previous manager, Arnold has now seemed disappointed over his treatment by Slot, and fears losing his place to Bradley. However, the 45-year-old manager, in an interview after the match, brushed aside rumors of discontent while exclaiming that he understands why the midfielder was upset for not being able to play the full 90 minutes.
"We need him for the whole season and not only for the first two games!"??♂️

The manager highlighted that Alexander-Arnold had recently come off a busy footballing season with both club and country, and that he needed rest in order to keep himself running for the rest of the season. Slot praised the 25-year-old for his brilliant performance against Brentford.

Arne Slot considers Juventus outcast as Liverpool’s second signing, following Giorgi Mamardashvili deal
Liverpool manager Arne Slot is reportedly considering a later move for Juventus outcast, Federico Chiesa, following criticism over a rather inactive transfer window for the club. The Reds are also close to securing a deal for Georgian goal-keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
The club is now looking to sign a perfect Mohamed Salah backup in Chiesa, who has been out-of-favor at Juventus after Thiago Motta took charge. The 26-year-old forward had scored nine goals and provided three assists in an injury-marred season last time.
Another major addition to the squad would be Euro 2024 star Mamardashvili. He is set to join the club in 2025, and will spend the season on loan at his current club, Valencia.
