Arsenal and Tottenham are scouring the January transfer market for attacking reinforcements. They have been looking for Athletic Club superstar Nico Williams for quite some time. Now, they have yet again turned their attention towards the Spaniard. Fichajes reports that both of these clubs are now ready to trigger the €58 million release clause for the player.
Both of these London clubs have had to deal with quite a number of injury issues this season. Hence, they are targeting the transfer market. Tottenham wants to reinforce and strengthen the left-wing position. Son Heung-min has been one of the best players in that position, but he needs support as his effectiveness is reducing. Moreover, Timo Werner is not that effective.
Arsenal has also faced issues in the attacking position after the serious injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus. Therefore, they need a world-class winger to strengthen the attack. Williams has scored one goal in 19 matches so far in the La Liga 2024/2025 season.
Overall, Williams’s goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.06. Moreover, his total G/A (goals + assists) is four for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.25 per 90 minutes. Williams’ non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.18. This puts Nico Williams’s npxG output at 2.62.
Arsenal also wanted to sign him last summer after his sensational performances in EURO 2024 for Spain. However, they were not prepared to meet the Spaniard’s release clause. They are now willing to do so in the winter transfer window.
Arsenal are working on a deal to sign the Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypan
The Gunners, led by Mikel Arteta, are also leading the race and are in discussions to sign the 18-year-old Rosenberg midfielder Sverre Nypan. This was reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic. He is one of the most talented midfielders in the world at his age, and was also linked with other Premier League clubs. However, playing for a club like Arsenal would help him develop his skills greatly.

Sverre Nypan has scored eight goals in 28 matches so far in the 2024 season. 6 of the 8 goals were scored at home, while he scored 2 goals at away games. Overall, Sverre Nypan’s goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.34. Moreover, his total G/A (goals + assists) is 14 for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.6 per 90 minutes. This puts Nypan’s npxG output at 5.54.
🚨 Sverre Nypan has returned to Norway, and Arsenal await his decision, having felt they were well-positioned to sign the teenager. 🇳🇴🔜

The creativity of the Arsenal midfield players rests on the shoulders of captain Martin Odegaard. There is not much creativity apart from him. However, they do need another creative midfielder who can complement the captain perfectly. The fellow Norwegian can turn out to be one of the best men to do so.
