Arsenal announce signing of Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Mat Ryan on loan for the season

during the Premier League match between Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion at Etihad Stadium on September 29, 2018 in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Mat Ryan joined Arsenal on loan until the end of the season in what was a move out of the blue. No one was expecting it and it happened suddenly out of nowhere. A month ago rumours were going around that Mat Ryan was asked to leave the club as Manchester United’s Sergio Romero was being lined up for a move. It is interesting to see what will happen to Alex Runarsson at Arsenal as another goalkeeper is drafted in.
Mat Ryan confessed that he grew up watching Arsenal when Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp
Australian National team goalkeeper Mat Ryan confessed that he grew up watching Champions League football at 4 AM on days when he had school. He grew up watching and admiring Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp were playing for them. Now he gets to live his dream and represent Arsenal for the period of time until the end of the season. Arsenal technical director Edu welcomed the player to the club and said that his experience of playing at the highest level will help the Gunners.
This transfer comes hot on the heels of news stating that Graham Potter had asked him to find a new club before the end of the season. The Australian goalkeeper’s contract expires in 2022 and was demoted to fourth choice goalkeeper this season. His departure was supposed to be followed with the arrival of Sergio Romero and it has to be seen if the Manchester United third choice goalkeeper is signed by the Seagulls.
