Already living off of the reputation that they are deadly from set pieces, Arsenal’s first goal came from a similar routine. Timber got on the back of a Declan Rice corner before flicking it past opposition keeper Andre Onana.

As seen in several Arsenal games this season, the Gunners employed ‘cunning’ tactics to get the job done on Wednesday night.

The set pieces have killed the game. Arsenal put a lot of players near the goalkeeper and it’s almost impossible to fight for the ball.

Amorim also stressed that his team ‘failed’ to do its job properly and that a higher level is required from his side in coming games. Amorim handed significant praise to young defender Leny Yoro, despite the two goals conceded.

United’s next game is against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League before taking on Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League. In response to the win, Mikel Arteta expressed his delight as he stressed the fact that Arsenal could have scored more goals from their set pieces.

Following the loss, Amorim has also vowed to turn things around after riding out the storm. United will also face Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup.
