The result provided a much needed boost to Arsenal, who were most recently knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United. It also took them closer to the top of the EPL table. The club remains second behind leaders Liverpool, with 43 points. Mikel Arteta‘s men were clinical throughout the match. They finished the match with an xG (expected goals) total of 1.42 from a staggering 14 attempts.

Arsenal star Declan Rice, speaking after the match, exclaimed that their recent win could prove to be a catalyst for their title challenge this season. He stated that the Gunners dictated proceedings throughout the first 45 minutes, describing it as ‘pure dominance’. Moreover, he took a sly dig at Spurs by cheekily claiming that his side could have scored ten goals.

From the first minute, the first 45 minutes, it was pure domination. You could tell it was a derby. To be honest with you, I think we were unlucky we probably didn’t score 10 tonight.

Nonetheless, it definitely raises questions regarding Arsenal’s ruthlessness up front. The club is dealing with a massive injury crisis, with star forward Bukayo Saka out for many weeks. Gabriel Jesus, who recently returned to form, has also been ruled out for the season with an ACL injury.

Myles Lewis-Skelly has earned manager Mikel Arteta’s trust in the recent weeks, having been preferred over Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko. Labeling his talent as ‘unbelievable’ and ‘fearless’, Rice highlighted the Arsenal academy product’s brilliant display against Spurs. He praised Lewis-Skelly’s personality and versatility, while comparing him to ex-Tottenham midfielder Moussa Dembele.

The young boy Myles is just unbelievable. For 18, what he showed tonight was just ridiculous. It’s scary. The 18-year-olds now have no fear… He’s got that Mousa Dembele trait.
