Arsenal interested in Barcelona goalkeeper Neto

Arsenal are interested in signing Neto this winter to add competition to their current number 1 Leno. He is currently back-up to Ter Stegen at Barcelona.
Neto signed for Barcelona from Valencia for £23 million in 2019, and is keen on getting more minutes. He wants to move to Arsenal but wants an assurance of starting spot in the lineup.
Neto has been a long-term target for Arsenal
Neto was a long term target for Arsenal, who had monitored him since his Valencia days. Barcelona are interested to sell the player if Arsenal are able to match their asking price of €21m.
Neto is understood to have a staggering £177m release clause included in his contract. Spanish reports say that he has pleaded with Barcelona to lower his price tag making it easier for him to depart.
Mikel Arteta suggested that Arsenal were keen to recruit stronger competition for Leno during the January window.
“There is nothing there yet,” said Arteta. “We are assessing the situation with the three positions on the goalkeeping area and we will find a different solution, probably in this window.”
“We didn’t have much time to do what we really wanted to do and we decided to assess the situation in this window which is what we are trying to do and we will make a decision on how we want to move forward in those three positions.”

Arsenal let Emi Martinez leave this summer who has played a key role for Aston Villa. Runarsson has been criticised at times this season and has struggled to impress when called upon, making a number of errors in his five appearances. Their current No.2 Alex Runarsson made a huge error against Manchester City which has irked Arteta to bring in Neto. However, Arsenal have their work cut out as Koeman doesn’t want to let go the player.
