Mikel Arteta‘s Arsenal side are accelerating their efforts to sign the 26-year-old French striker Randal Kolo Muani in the January transfer window. Graeme Bailey from TBR Football reported that Kolo Muani is on the wishlist of Arteta, and PSG are also ready to let the player leave on loan. It’s not just Arsenal who are interested; Ruben Amorim‘s Manchester United and Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City are also keeping tabs on the player.

In the summer of 2023, Kolo Muani was one of the players who was sought after by many clubs. However, PSG finally bought him for a fee of £64 million. There was a lot of excitement and anticipation from the player from the day he arrived at the Paris club. However, his tenure at the capital club hasn’t been fruitful.

He has gone down the pecking order of the manager, Luis Enrique, and the Spaniard does not look interested in including him in the starting XI on a consistent basis. He has played 14 games so far this season in all competitions and has scored two goals with one assist.

However, that hasn’t reduced the interest in the World Cup finalist, who remains attractive to clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City.

Arsenal have struggled for goals due to the underperformance of Gabriel Jesus. Kai Havertz has also not been that fruitful in front of the goal this season, and hence the Gunners need a number nine who can be lethal in front of the goal. Hence, they are looking at Kolo Muani as an option.

Why does Manchester United and Manchester City want Randal Kolo Muani?

Manchester United need to reinforce their attacking half as the futures of Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee are not certain at the Old Trafford club. Rashford was even left out of the matchday squad against Manchester City. Amorim feels that Kolo Muani could be the one who could be a strong presence in their attacking half and give them goals.

Meanwhile, Manchester City don’t have a backup or alternative to Erling Haaland. They have sold Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid and did not sign his replacement in the summer transfer window. Guardiola feels that Kolo Muani could go on to shine at City, despite his underperformance at PSG.

PSG are quite content to let Kolo Muani leave on loan and might also compel the buying club to insert a permanent buy option at the end of the loan move. It remains to be seen where Kolo Muani finally lands: will it be Arsenal, Manchester United, or Manchester City?
