Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta jokingly brushed aside questions aimed at Ben White‘s feelings toward newly appointed England boss Thomas Tuchel. The Spanish manager, moreover, spoke about the reactions of other Arsenal stars toward Tuchel’s appointment.
Ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was most recently appointed as the new Three Lions head coach on an 18-month long contract. He succeeded Gareth Southgate, who departed at the end of the 2024 Euros. Arsenal stars Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka will definitely make it to Tuchel’s new England side, but Ben White’s inclusion remains in doubt. The 27-year-old full-back, who was exiled from the national team owing to a feud between him and Southgate, is speculated to make a return, having last played in 2022.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, in a recent press conference, stated that there has been a lot of excitement among his players following Tuchel’s appointment. Arteta also highlighted the impact that the new England boss would have on the team.
Surprisingly, when asked about White’s expression on Tuchel’s appointment, Arteta cleverly chose to downplay the question. Moreover, the Gunners manager jokingly persuaded reporters to question him about other Arsenal stars, including Saka and Rice.

Apart from White, Arteta was also questioned about the veteran forward Raheem Sterling’s reaction, of which he denied knowledge. The 29-year-old former Manchester City star will be hoping to earn a place in England team, owing to his previous relationship with Tuchel at Chelsea.

There has been a lot of criticism aimed at the England national team, over the appointment of a non-English head coach in Thomas Tuchel. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta responded to the criticism surrounding the German manager’s appointment, stating that his nationality should not be a problem.
Speaking at a recent press conference, Arteta, initially exclaimed that the FA should have informed managers regarding the nationality criteria, while also adding that he understands the opinions of fans and pundits. However, the Gunners’ boss added that any manager who does well should be appointed, and a lot of non-English managers would take pride in taking up the England job.

Additionally, he highlighted the treatment of foreign managers in England, which ultimately decided the passion and respect that they would have for their team. He also stated that he himself would take a lot of pride in managing the England national team.
