Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta admitted that he is ‘obsessed’ with winning the Premier League title this season, as the Gunners remain second on the EPL table. He urged his side to keep the pressure on and close the gap on league leaders Liverpool.
The Gunners have enjoyed a brilliant run in the Premier League this season, and are currently on a 15-match unbeaten run in the competition. Their last top-flight defeat came in the month of November, when they lost 1-0 to Newcastle United. League leaders Liverpool hold a seven-point lead over second-placed Arsenal, with the Gunners having a game in hand.
Mikel Arteta‘s side can close the gap between them and the Reds to just five points, if they successfully beat West Ham. However, the club’s route to the EPL title would not be an easy one, after having already dropped out of the FA Cup and EFL Cup this season. Arsenal also faces a massive injury crisis, with three players, Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Takehiro Tomiyasu, ruled out until the end of the season.

Chasing Arsenal’s first English title since 2004 after finishing as runners-up to Manchester City for the last two seasons, manager Mikel Arteta expressed confidence in his side. He went on to surprisingly admit his obsession with the process of winning the title, while noting its difficulty. Moreover, Arteta claimed that the EPL title race can turn around, with each team left to play 13 matches.
I’m obsessed with doing every single that I can. There’s still a lot to play and you can see how difficult it is for everybody to win football matches. The margins are so small, and everything counts.

Meanwhile, league leaders Liverpool have dropped crucial points over the last two weeks, with the club having drawn against Everton and Aston Villa in the EPL. Arsenal will be hoping for a similar result for Liverpool, in their upcoming encounter against Manchester City.

Arsenal will face the Dutch giants over two legs, scheduled to take place on the 5th and 13th of March, with the second-leg at the Emirates.
