Lucas Arnold of TBR Football has reported that Arsenal remains very interested in signing Mathys Tel on the deadline day of the winter transfer window. Manchester United are the favorite to secure the signing of the striker, but Arsenal still has the chance to get the signing done.

The Gunners have been struggling with consistent goals. Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have not been consistent in front of the goal. Moreover, Jesus and Bukayo Saka remains sidelined with injuries. Hence, they need a natural number nine who can score the goals for them consistently.

They have been linked to a number of strikers of late, with Ollie Watkins and Tel being the two prominent strikers. Aston Villa have rejected their latest offer for Watkins, and Mikel Arteta’s side are desperately looking to sign Tel. The Bayern Munich player has rejected the latest offer from Tottenham and remains keen on joining Manchester United as he is impressed with the project offered to him.

He has appeared in eight matches this season in the Bundesliga, playing a total of 252 minutes, and therefore needs more game time to develop and grow in stature. Tel possesses incredible pace and has all the qualities to thrive as a finisher in the Premier League. It remains to be seen if the Gunners can manage to beat the competition for him.

Jorginho is set to stay at Arsenal

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Jorginho will not leave Arsenal in the winter transfer window. However, he will move to Flamengo in the upcoming summer transfer window when his contract ends. Flamengo did come up with an offer to sign the midfielder, but the Gunners rejected the offer as they are not ready to let him leave in the middle of the season.

The midfielder is not the starting first-team player for Mikel Arteta. However, the manager still uses him quite well and depends on his experience in the remainder of the season. The Gunners have quality midfielders in the form of Thomas Partey and Declan Rice, but Arteta has still depended on Jorginho for the big games.

He has appeared in 10 matches this season in the Premier League, playing a total of 459 minutes. The midfielder has not managed to score any goal or provide an assist. He has taken one shot in 10 matches so far in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. However, the Gunners will be counting on his experience for the remainder of the ongoing season.
