What started off as a bang for Arsenal in the ongoing Premier League season has suddenly fizzled away into a whimper as they remained winless for a third straight game. Going up against Newcastle United at St. James Park, the Gunners were handed another woeful defeat. Riding high on an impeccable strike from Aleksander Isak, the Magpies made merry.

It all started with a defeat against Bournemouth, where not only were the Gunners vanquished, but they also witnessed William Saliba being given his marching orders. Their next stop was back home, where Liverpool visited them, and strikes from Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah nullified the lead that they secured twice. Their latest chapter of sorrow came against Newcastle, as Isak’s solitary strike differentiated the two sides.

I am very frustrated, we deserved to lose today. We got dragged into the game Newcastle wanted and not the one we wanted. But you have to be at your best in every game to give you a chance to win. After 10 games we are not going to find the answer now. It is not about winning the title, it is about being our best version every week. We have to put it right on Wednesday.

Mikel Arteta told at the post-match conference after their defeat against Newcastle United

Arsenal will have their work cut out when they lock horns with Internazionale on Wednesday for the ongoing UEFA Champions League. Despite a win against Shakhtar Donetsk in their latest European outing, Arsenal still stays rooted at the ninth position in the points table of the UCL.

Three fellow English clubs lead the race for the European nights, as Aston Villa and Liverpool are right at the top of the points table with nine points from three games, while Manchester City sits in the third position with seven points from three fixtures.

Here is what X had to say about Arsenal’s third winless game week in the Premier League

X users didn’t hold their grudges back as they poured downright vitriol against the Gunners after their latest defeat in the ongoing Premier League. A few fans pointed out that these three defeats have seriously dented Arsenal’s prospects of clinching the Premier League. A few were quick to point out that Mikel Arteta might not be the messiah that they are looking forward to.

A few fans were quick to echo former Manchester United star Patrice Evra’s comparison of Arsenal to Netflix. While a few fans made no attempt to hide the fact that it was the referee who cost Arsenal the game, which is just an agonizing attempt at sarcasm.

Arsenal will have another big game coming up for them where they lock horns with Chelsea next week, while their midweek Champions League clash will be very important in terms of garnering some serious momentum. After their defeat against Bournemouth, the game where it all started, Mikel Arteta was served a stark reminder of Erling Haaland telling him to stay humble after the Manchester City game.
