Arthur Fils and Ugo Humbert helped France take a strong lead against Brazil in the Davis Cup first round. Both players won their matches, giving France a 2-0 advantage. Fils secured the second victory with a solid performance. He defeated Thiago Seyboth Wild 6-1, 6-4.
The match ended with a bit of tension, with Fils and Seyboth Wild having a heated exchange at the net. The disagreement continued as the Brazilian player left the court.
Earlier in the day, Humbert gave France the first win. He played well in Orleans and stopped young Brazilian talent Joao Fonseca. Humbert won the match 7-5, 6-3.

Arthur Fils destined for great things in 2025
Arthur Fils is one of the most exciting tennis players today. The 20-year-old from France is ranked world no. 20, his highest ever. He has impressed fans and players with his strong 2024 season. Fils won two ATP titles this year and is now aiming for the Next Gen ATP Finals trophy.
Fils has won three ATP titles so far. His first came at the Lyon Open in 2023 when he was just 18. He was ranked world no. 112 and entered as a wildcard. He beat Francisco Cerundolo in the final, becoming the youngest Frenchman to win an ATP title since Gael Monfils in 2005.

Fils is the youngest player in the ATP top 40 and the second-best Frenchman behind Humbert. He has had an amazing season and will aim even higher in 2025. His next goal is to win the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
