The Argentine last played Ruud in the Barcelona Open final and was sent packing in straight sets. However, Etcheverry did not go down without a fight as he forced a tiebreak in the opening set. He could not continue his form at the subsequent tournaments. But, before coming to Paris, the Argentine played in the final of Lyon Open.

Now, after entering the third round, Etcheverry will be hoping to capitalize on the momentum and the luck he has found in Paris. It is to be seen if he will be able to topple Ruud or if the Argentine player will face another defeat at the hands of the World No. 7.
