Iga Swiatek has become synonymous with bagels. She is now dominating on the clay courts of Roland Garros and pulled off a quick 6-0, 6-0 within 40 minutes to beat Anastasia Potapova in the fourth round. Swiatek’s rival, Aryna Sabalenka, after beating America’s Emma Navarro, has made it clear she won’t try to imitate the Pole because she wants to be ‘nicer’ to her opponents.
The match in 40 minutes was the World No.1’s quickest finish of her career, which was crazy according to Sabalenka. She was watching that match, and thoughts like producing complete dominance in a match raced in her mind, but her plan to focus on herself interrupted her train of thought, and she joked later in the press conference that she felt sorry for Potapova.
I felt so sorry for Anastasia because it was just too good Iga. I was stopping myself from thinking and trying to do the same because you can get really crazy about that. I was, like, okay, no, Aryna. Just focus on yourself. You don't have to do better than her. It's okay. That's just her world like these bagels. This is something about Iga. Just leave it for her. I will be nicer to my opponent.Aryna Sabalenka said at the press conference
Sabalenka is now waiting for the result of the fourth-round match between Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva and France’s Varvara Gracheva.
Ellen Perez explains why she stopped playing singles after Iga Swiatek’s double bagel
WTA doubles player Ellen Perez gave a hilarious reason why stopped playing singles matches. After Iga Swiatek‘s match, an X user shared an interesting stat that revealed how Swiatek defeated players with a double bagel whose surnames end with ‘P’, the latest victim being Anastasia Potapova. The 28-year-old Australian Perez, whose surname also starts with ‘P’ joked that this is why she is no more a singles player.
See this is why I stopped playing singles. I refuse to be a victim.Ellen Perez wrote

Perez is playing doubles and mixed doubles matches at the Roland Garros and reached the third round with her doubles partner Nicole Melichar-Martinez. She and her mixed doubles partner Matthew Ebden received a walkover in the second round against the pair of Lyudmyla Kichenok and Mate Pavic.
Swiatek, the three-time Roland Garros champion, on the other hand, will be locking horns with Marketa Vondrousova in the quarterfinals, scheduled on June 4. The Pole will aim to improve her head-to-head record against Vondrousova to 4-0.
