Aryna Sabalenka hugs her team who “wouldn’t exist” without her after winning maiden US Open title

Aryna Sabalenka is the new US Open champion and she is over the moon. After the disappointment of 2023, Sabalenka was determined to take the title home, which she did by defeating Jessica Pegula 7-5, 7-5 on Saturday (September 7) evening. The Belarusian ace was emotional after her win and hugged everyone around her, including her team.
Sabalenka fell to the floor after her win and then got up and ran to her box to embrace every member of her team to celebrate the win. Her coach Jason Stacy even got a tiger sticker on his forehead to celebrate the Belarusian’s title win.

With her US Open win, Sabalenka became the first player to finish the season with the most Women’s Singles Grand Slam wins (18) for consecutive years since Serena Williams in 2015 and 2016. She is also just the sixth woman in the Open Era to bounce back from a runner-up finish in New York by clinching the title the following year.

While Aryna Sabalenka was being lauded for her achievement, she did not forget to credit her team for the success. The Belarusian, who does not say it too often, thanked her team for sticking by her side in every situation, good and bad.
The World No. 2 said that her team members are like her family and claimed that she would not exist if it was not for them. Sabalenka, in her usual fashion, also joked about them not existing without her either.
No matter which situation we were facing this season or last season, we were able to go through it and get all those beautiful trophies. [Their support] means everything. Without them I would not exist and as I always say, without me you guys wouldn't exist too, so you are welcome. You guys are my family. The team reciprocated the love by popping champagne and pouring it all over Sabalenka when she entered the locker room after the match. The Belarusian was also ready with a bottle of champagne and joined in the celebrations, which could continue beyond the night and over the next few days.
