‘In a game she’s a fighter, with the heart of a tiger’- the ‘Tiger’ song perfectly describes Aryna Sabalenka! Unfortunately for Novak Djokovic, despite him being one of the greatest sportsmen of all time, he doesn’t have a song dedicated to him. And Sabalenka mocked him for that.
The Belarusian, on Tuesday (May 3), moved past Qinwen Zheng in the quarterfinals of the French Open with a 7-6(3), 6-3 scoreline to book her spot in nine of her last 10 Grand Slam tournaments. And how did she celebrate?
She danced to the ‘Tiger’ tribute song by djKDS. A jubilant Sabalenka walked down the stairs while dancing in the process. Before turning away, she pulled Djokovic’s legs.
How’s that Novak? And you don’t have your song!

Djokovic is chasing his record 25th Grand Slam title and his first since the 2023 US Open. He has reached the quarterfinal and will be locking horns with last year’s French Open runner-up Alexander Zverev for the 14th time in his career. The 38-year-old, who hasn’t yet dropped a set, entered Roland Garros after clinching his 100th ATP title by beating Hubert Hurkacz in the Geneva Open final.
He has scheduled the quarterfinal match against the German after securing his 100th win at the French Open by breezing past Cameron Norrie. The match against Zverev will be their second encounter this season following the Australian Open semifinals where Djokovic handed him the walkover after losing the first set.
Sabalenka trolled Djokovic because he, after his win over Norrie, mimicked her celebration. The two share a good camaraderie and had also paired up for an exhibition match last year in Melbourne. Sabalenka, after the 38-year-old’s third-round victory over Filip Misolic, had also gatecrashed his interview with TNT Sports.

Aryna Sabalenka to meet Iga Swiatek in the semifinals
Aryna Sabalenka will be playing her 11th Grand Slam semifinal since the start of 2020 (the most on the WTA tour). She took a 7-1 head-to-head lead over 2024 Paris Olympics champion Qinwen Zheng, ending her 10-match winning streak.

The 27-year-old also took her revenge on the 22-year-old as before Roland Garros, the Chinese ace knocked Sabalenka out of the Italian Open quarterfinals. Sabalenka has now set up a mouthwatering semifinal clash with three-time defending champion Iga Swiatek, who knocked out Elina Svitolina 6-1, 7-5.
The three-time Grand Slam singles champion has met Swiatek 12 times, winning four of those matches. On clay, the five-time Grand Slam champion holds a 5-1 win-loss record over her and had defeated her twice last year on the surface at the Madrid Open and the Italian Open.
Swiatek, however, had an inconsistent start to the season. Since winning her fourth Roland Garros title last year, the 24-year-old hasn’t yet reached the final.
She was expected to end her trophy drought on clay this season but as she couldn’t taste success, she entered the French Open without a title under her belt for the first time since 2020. Sabalenka, on the other hand, enjoyed a lot of success this season. She has so far made it to six finals, winning three titles, including her third trophy of her career on clay at the Madrid Open. She had also reached the final of the Stuttgart Open, losing the title to Jelena Ostapenko.
Sabalenka has not yet dropped a set en route to the semifinals. Swiatek, however, came from a set down to knock out 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in the fourth round. This is the second time they will meet in a Grand Slam tournament, following the 2022 US Open semifinals, which the Pole won before reaching the final and winning the title.
