Belarusian tennis ace Aryna Sabalenka suffered three back-to-back heartbreaks at the Flushing Meadows. Having bowed out of the US Open in the semifinals for two consecutive years (2021 and 2022), the 26-year-old finished as the runner-up last year when she lost to Coco Gauff.
One more year after that heartbreak, Sabalenka has finally managed to lay her hands on the beautiful trophy. The World No. 2 defeated Jessica Pegula 7-5, 7-5 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday (September 7) to lift her maiden title at the US Open
Sabalenka was obviously emotional after the win and hugged her entire team. During her on-court interview, she said she was at a loss for words when asked to describe how it felt.

The Belarusian now has three Grand Slam titles to her name, including two at the Australian Open. She became the first player to win both hard court Majors in the same year since Angelique Kerber in 2016.

Aryna Sabalenka was running high on emotions after finally getting the win that had been eluding her for years. She was in tears in the immediate aftermath of winning the US Open. Sabalenka embraced her team members as well as her boyfriend before coming back to the court to collect the trophy.
After the adrenaline rush, Sabalenka shared a few words of wisdom for the crowd. She recalled how she worked hard after every loss to ensure she bounced back.
Everything I am thinking, I remember all the losses in the past here and just; it's going to sound easy but never give up on your dreams. Keep trying, keep working hard. Sabalenka put the woes of the past behind her and did not let her emotions take over during the match. as it happened in the final last year when she lost despite winning the first set. Despite the momentum swinging to and fro in the second set against Jessica Pegula, the Belarusian held onto her lead and closed the match in an hour and 53 minutes.
