Aryna Sabalenka is in Cincinnati, chasing her fourth title of the season. On Wednesday (August 13), she went past Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the fourth round to book a spot in the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Masters for the fourth consecutive time.
She reached the semifinals in 2022 and 2023, while last year, she ended the tournament in her favor. Following her win over Maneiro, she sat for an interview with the Tennis Channel, and there she discussed her cheat meals.
Some of my cheat meals is like it’s full on, you know, it’s hamburgers, it can be pizza, it can be gummies, it can be a lot of different things in one day because you know, like if it’s a cheat meal, you got to go full. But hamburgers that’s that’s my weakness, like cheesy and soft and a really good meat and and hot and the the bun is still, you know, still…I don’t know how to say like melting melting with the cheese and stuff.
If Sabalenka wins, she will become the first woman to defend the Cincinnati title since 23-time Grand Slam singles champion Serena Williams (2014- 2015). Sabalenka has so far lifted the Brisbane International, Miami Open, and the Madrid Open, and apart from them, she also reached four more finals, including at the Australian and the French Open, losing both to Madison Keys and Coco Gauff, respectively.
At Wimbledon, eventual runner-up Amanda Anisimova knocked her out in the semifinals. Cincinnati Masters is her first tournament since Wimbledon, as she skipped the Canadian Open to extend her break.
Aryna Sabalenka praises Jessica Bouzas Maneiro after eliminating her in Cincinnati
Aryna Sabalenka has improved her head-to-head lead over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro to 2-0. Prior to their clash in Cincinnati, they met in the second round of this year’s Australian Open. Although Sabalenka won the first set 6-1, she had to toil in the second set, but she somehow stopped the Spaniard from forcing the third set.

Jessica is a great player. I knew coming into the night that I’d have to work for every point. She didn’t start well at the beginning, but then she found her rhythm, and it was a really tough battle. I’m super happy to get this win in straight sets. I didn’t want to stay here for three hours, sorry guys.
Aryna Sabalenka said during her on-court interview
Maneiro has reached the fourth round of a WTA 1000 tournament for the first time in her career. This year, the 22-year-old also produced her best performance in a Grand Slam when she advanced to the fourth round of Wimbledon.
Aryna Sabalenka to play Elena Rybakina next
Sabalenka has set up a blockbuster clash in the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Masters as she will be locking horns with Elena Rybakina. The World No.1 holds a 7-4 head-to-head lead over the Kazakh ace, but they are 2-2 in their previous four matches.

They last met in the quarterfinals of this year’s Berlin Open, which Sabalenka won but not before saving four championship points. The 26-year-old defeated reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys in the previous round.
While Sabalenka is bidding to defend he title, the 2022 Wimbledon champion has never progressed beyond the quarterfinals in Cincinnati. Last year, Rybakina lost in the second round, while Sabalenka defeated home favorite Jessica Pegula in the final.
Rybakina is chasing her second title of the season after her Strasbourg Open win. She has only two WTA 1000 titles to her name. And, the three-time Grand Slam singles champion lifted two of her nine WTA 1000 titles this year, in Miami and Madrid.
