Looks like college football has gotten its ‘Interception of the Year’ from the thrilling match between the Clemson Tigers and Virginia Tech Hokies in Week 11. The player credited with this feat is none other than Ashton Hampton, who played a significant role in Clemson’s solid bounce-back.
Coming off a disappointing outing against Louisville Cardinals in Week 10, the Tigers entered Week 11 with high hopes to qualify for College Football Playoffs. And it certainly worked in their favor as they outperformed Virginia Tech at 24-14, marking their seventh straight win against them in an all-time series.
But the star of the game was indeed Hampton for scoring an extraordinary interception of the opposing quarterback, Kyron Drones. It happened in the third quarter when the Tigers were already in the lead at 14-7 and Drones threw a pass at wide receiver Da’Quan Felton, which looked pretty promising until Hampton intercepted it.

The Tigers’ defensive back stole the show with a stunning one-handed interception, leaving analysts in the booth astonished as they applauded his ability to outmaneuver the Virginia Tech wide receiver before extending his one arm to make the catch.
With this feat, Clemson has improved to a 7-2 and moved in the college football Playoffs standings following the release of the second set of ranking next Tuesday. They are now preparing for upcoming two home games against The Citadel Bulldogs and South Carolina Gamecocks.
Cade Klubnik shines with three touchdowns-winning performance against Virginia Tech
Hampton wasn’t the only star in the game as Clemson’s quarterback Cade Klubnik led his team to the 24-14 victory after scoring three touchdowns on Saturday. Despite the poor loss home loss to Louisville, they maintained their ACC title race due to a solid performance and strategic execution by Klubnik.

We had to go do what we do and execute at a high rate. We kind of shot ourselves in the foot in the first half. We were putting great drives together. We just had to go finish them. We responded. We felt great in the locker room at halftime. We knew we were marching on them. We just had to go have a good second half— and we did.

Klubnik scored all three of his touchdowns in the second half of the game, that too in three of the first four possessions in the second half. He opened the third quarter by connecting on a 29-yard touchdown pass with Cole Turner, followed by a 41-yard pass to T.J. Moore, and a 12-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jake Briningstool in the fourth quarter.
