The finalists for the Heisman Trophy have come down to four names: Colorado’s Travis Hunter, Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty, Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel, and Miami’s Cam Ward. However, the ultimate competition is between the former two names with each believing they deserve the prestigious honor more than the other.
In the latest episode of The Edge with Micah Parsons, Jeanty presented compelling reasons for why deserves to win the Heisman Trophy, positioning himself as a more deserving candidate than his peers. He emphasized that, despite the relentless efforts of opposing defenses, they have found it impossible to stop him throughout the season.
The whole defense, every single week, is geared toward stopping me and they still couldn’t. Just for us to win the conference, not only that but make history and bring Boise State to their first-ever playoff appearance. I mean, I feel like there you go, that was the final checked box.

Jeanty’s argument is backed by his stats this season as he recorded 2,497 yards on 344 carries and 29 touchdowns in 13 games this season. Although Hunter is the frontrunner to win the prominent award on December 14, Jeanty doesn’t agree with that statement.
The only advantage that Jeanty can said to have is leading his team to the playoffs, given there are only three Heisman winners, who won the honor without qualifying for the playoffs. However, if Hunter wins, he will join the list of Lamar Jackson, Caleb Williams, and Jayden Daniels in that category.
Chad Ochocinco weighs in on Heisman Trophy race between Travis Hunter and Ashton Jeanty
The tight-contested competition for the Heisman Trophy between Hunter and Jeanty has attracted numerous discussions, not only across college football but also the NFL. Pro Hall of Famer Chad Ochocinco made his preference for the prestigious trophy clear on the Nightcap episode with host Shannon Sharpe.

Come on man I respect what brother Jeanty has done, but everybody’s done it. Nobody’s done what Travis Hunter has done this year on the defensive side of the ball and the offensive side of the ball.
Chad Ochocinco said
While the former NFL legend acknowledged the stellar season of Jeanty, he beleives that Colorado’s two-way superstar is a generational talent and the standout season he had, despite not making the playoffs with his team, is truly exceptional.
