Players like Ashton Jeanty appear once in a lifetime. Despite starting for Boise State, a team that routinely fights for the top schools in the AP poll, Jeanty’s inclusion in the team received an additional boost to their ambition.

The trajectory has continued for the Broncos this year as well. After six games, they stand on a 5-1 record, and the majority of the credit goes to their star running back.

Jeanty currently leads the college football scene with 126 carries for 1248 yards and 17 touchdowns, propelling him into the mix for the Heisman Trophy. He is averaging 9.9 yards per carry, which will eclipse Barry Sanders’ all-time record of 2,628 rushing yards.

On top of that, the 20-year-old is also projected to be a top-10 pick in the 2025 draft. Various mock drafts have placed him in teams where he will be an instant starter. However, Jeanty has a few teams in his mind as well. During a recent livestream, he was interacting with some of his fans who suggested some teams where he would thrive.

[The Chicago] Bears? Y’all got a back already; y’all got De’Andre Swift. I’m not gonna lie, Chicago’s too cold. It’s too cold. I can’t do that.

Some Kansas City Chiefs fans tried to recruit him as well. Even though playing for the reigning world champions is a mouthwatering prospect, Jeanty quenched that thought for the time being.

Chiefs, you know what I’m saying? Be a Super Bowl contender every year? Come on now.

The debate dragged on, and eventually, the 2023 Mountain West player of the year dropped a subtle hint about the team he has his eyes set on playing. He wants to remain close to his home, which means playing for the Dallas Cowboys.

Dallas Cowboys, I’m not saying they’re not a good fit. I’m not saying that at all, you know? And I’m from Frisco, I played in their practice stadium. I would be a hometown hero if I was there.

Jeanty was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and played high school football at a Navy base in Italy. However, he went to Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas, after returning to the States for two years before college. So it would make sense for him to think about the Cowboys.

Moreover, the Cowboys are in a bind regarding the running back position. After releasing Tony Pollard, the Cowboys brought back Ezekiel Elliott and signed Dalvin Cook, but instead of playing either of the veterans, they have started Rico Dowdle more often.

The selection dilemma has dented the Cowboys’ running back, making them a one-trick pony. Drafting Jeanty would solve a lot of problems but depends on whether Jerry Jones would draft him in the top 10.
