NBA fans become very particular about the announcing crew, refereeing crew and other such details during playoff season. With their playoff lives at stake, reason and sensibility often go out the window for some fans. Reggie Miller seems to be caught in the crossfire with some of these fans.
NBA content creator Legend of Winning did a live stream for the Lakers’ game 5 loss at home to Minnesota. The latter is a reasonably well-known Lakers fan and is a regular feature on viral NBA Twitter for his juicy takes. However, the YouTuber showed what other fans have deemed to be disrespect for Reggie Miller. At some point during his live stream, LoW went off on the Hall of Famer with an NSFW rant.
Yo, f*** Reggie Miller too. This ni*** sitting here and talking about ‘they should really feel the contact’, ‘Lakers should play better because of that’. Shut the f*** up. How come your team wasn’t fueled at the Malice at the Palace, and y’all still f****** lost. How about, your team wasn’t fueled after you let that ni*** Tayshaun Prince block your s***. How come it didn’t fuel your troops? I don’t know if I can take some bulls*** from Reggie Miller ni***. He was a role player, ni***.
Legend of Winning spoke disparagingly about Reggie Miller after his comments on the Lakers’ mentality

It is important to note that Miller was voted in as a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary team. He made five All-Star games and routinely raised his scoring averages in the playoffs. Even after a decade of 3-pointer explosion, Miller is still sixth on the all-time 3-pointers leaderboard. Miller was undoubtedly the alpha on his Pacers teams during the mid- and late-90s.
Although Miller has been viewed as a largely bland and uninteresting announcer, lying about his NBA career isn’t justified. However Legend of Winning may feel about his performance on the microphone, he needs to keep the criticism of his commentary about his current job, and not his credentials as a legend of the game.
NBA Twitter roasts Legend of Winning for Reggie Miller take
NBA Twitter is always in its element whenever a big-market team is eliminated. No team is bigger than the Lakers, both by digital footprint and by worldwide recognition. So when they got eliminated from the playoffs, many of their fanboys caught heat for their blustering faith in this iteration of the team. ‘Lakers in 5 losses’ memes pervaded the space after their game 5 loss.
The hate-watchers also found time to put Legend of Winning to the virtual sword. The YouTuber was roundly criticized by NBA Twitter for his nonsensical take on Miller’s credentials as a player. He was explicitly called out for lying about the nature of Miller’s dominance by journalists and fans alike.

Ah yes, a member of the NBA 75 team and a 5x All-Star who averaged 20.6 points and shot 40.2 percent from three over a 12-year stretch in the NBA's dead-ball era was a role player. https://t.co/EK03KffYSt

Reggie genuinely is one of the most underrated players of all time lol https://t.co/TcEL4VcA3M

One of the key elements of being a respected sports content creator is having a healthy respect for players from the past. The likes of Reggie Miller did things nobody was doing before them. They set the blueprint for modern off-ball scorers like Stephen Curry to dominate the game. Miller was also a playoff riser and has several landmark playoff moments to his credit. He led one of only two teams to take Jordan’s Bulls to seven games.
