Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal recently stated his intention to never leave the Catalan club in his footballing career, while also hoping to become a future club legend. The 17-year-old winger shattered records last season, with both club and country. 

Lamine Yamal has been a revelation, since he made his debut for Barcelona last season, at the tender age of 16. A left-footed winger with excellent passing, and chance-creating abilities, Yamal has been in the headlines for the past few months. He most recently won the 2024 Euros with Spain, becoming the youngest to achieve this feat, while also scoring seven goals in 50 appearances at Camp Nou. PSG are interested in acquiring Yamal’s services, next summer. Yamal however, in an interview, displaying loyalty, exclaimed that he would never leave Barcelona. He also aspired to become a club legend, while also expressing delight at the joy he has been able to bring to the fans. Also speaking on his recent Ballon d’Or nomination, Yamal humorously stated that he had no chances of winning it, but was excited after both his and fellow Spaniard Nico Williams’ name appeared on the list.

Yamal however, is on top of the list to win the Golden Boy and the Kopa trophy this year, for being the best young player. He has been seen as a key player under new Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, already starting the season with a goal and five assists in four matches.

Speaking on El Hormiguero, Yamal described how the academy coaches and how the officials helped him direct his life toward a proper direction. Moreover, the Spaniard exclaimed how his recent performances and maturity at the 2024 Euros left everyone at La Masia happy. 

From a young age at Barca, they already help you to direct your life so that you do not deviate in the future. They put psychologists on you. Since the Euros, I see everyone happier.

Lamine’s success at the recently concluded European Championships made him the youngest player to ever feature on the 30-man Ballon d’Or nominees list. Despite such acclaim, Yamal has remained humble.
