Premier League: Aston Villa vs Newcastle United Player Ratings as Ings and El Ghazi guide Villa to victory

Danny Ings and Anwar El Ghazi along with the robust Aston Villa defense helped them to register the second victory of the campaign on Saturday at Villa Park. After the game, here is our Aston Villa vs Newcastle United Player Ratings.

After the initial exchange of passes and gameplay, Newcastle United found themselves under the pressure with the Villa Park outfit pressing the opposition to all the corners. Aston Villa’s sustained attack helped them to have a crack at the goal in the dying embers of the game. Danny Ings converted the goal with a spectacular free-kick.

In the second half, Aston Villa doubled the lead with a penalty that was conceded by Jamal Lascelles when he touched the ball with his hand in his own half. The miseries pounded for the Toon Army when the penalty was ruled in the 77th minute which was awarded to them. Though Newcastle fought valiantly in the final minutes of the game, Aston Villa took home all three points.

Emiliano Martinez (6.8/10): After winning the Copa America title with Argentina, the shot-stopper is full of confidence. However, he was sloppy on the ball with a less pass percentage. 

Ashley Young (6.5/10): Former Manchester United player was defensively solid but he could not assist his side with his attacking inputs from the left flank.

Ezri Konsa (6.7/10): The defender was dominant in the air and won three aerial duels in the first half. He also was a great passer of the ball on the pitch for his side. 

Tyrone Mings (7.3/10): The skipper of the team, Tyrone Mings not only contributed defensively but contributed with his assist in the first half. He had 87% possession as well as a tackle to his name. 

Matty Cash (6.5/10):  The right-back was poor on the ball but was defensively sound. He did not allow any casualties to occur in the first half from the right-flank. 

John McGinn (6.7/10): The Scottish international was clever on the midfield and drew fouls perfectly for his side in the attacking half. Also, he dribbled past the opposition to create the inroads. 

Jacob Ramsey (6.5/10): Jacob Ramsey did his job by carrying the ball to the opposition half, by bailing out his team. He completed both the tackles and had a 100% pass completion rate throughout the game. 

Doughlas Luiz (6.4/10): Luiz was a lively player in the midfield but failed to keep going for Aston Villa. Though he was dominant in the air, he was awarded a yellow card for committing a reckless challenge. 

Anwar El Ghazi (7.3/10): Though he had a great pass completion percentage, he was shy in terms of shots on target as well as his chance creation. He was impressive from the left flank while maintaining possession. He converted the penalty in the second half to double the lead. 

Emi Buendia (7.1/10): The new player for Aston Villa, Emi Buendia was one of the glittering stars for the team. He completed dribbles, did aerial duels and maintained possession 

Danny Ings (7.5/10): Danny Ings scored the goal for his new side, Aston Villa in the dying embers of the first half. He converted the ball passed on by his central defender and skipper, Tyrone Mings.

Freddie Woodman (6/10): Freddie Woodman was commanding in his own box. For the first goal, the goalkeeper was not in any position to save it whereas for the second one, El Ghazi converted the penalty easily. 

Jacob Murphy (6/10): The right-wingback was a live wire in the midfield and tried to simulate the penalty in the dying embers of the first half. 

Jamal Lascelles (5.7/10): Jamal was poor in the second half for his side. His handball helped Aston Villa to double the lead. However, he dealt with the aerial headers easily. 

Fabian Schar (6/10): Schar failed to justify his spot in the XI as he had poor passing rate and failed to deal the ball aerially.
Federico Fernandez (6/10): Federico Fernandez was aerially dominant but he had poor performance on the field. He also had 89% pass completion rate for his side.

Matt Ritchie (6.1/10): The left-wingback helped his side to up the tempo in the attack and contributed to his defense as well. 

Miguel Almiron (6/10): Miguel Almiron tried to control the tempo in the midfield with his perfect passes and tackles. But Aston Villa were a determined side and did not let Almiron to wreak havoc in the midfield. 

Isaac Hayden (5.9/10): The player once again failed to impress. He was substituted at the start of the second half as the player failed to hold the ball or create the chances.

Joe Willock(6.0/10): The new signing of the Toon Army, Joe Willock, tried hard to create chances in the three-man midfield setup. 

Allan Saint Maximin (7.1/10): Once again, Saint Maximin was the star player for his side. He ran across the pitch, created the chances but his teammates failed to take the opportunities gleefully. 

Callum Wilson(6.3/10): Not only did he get a yellow card, but he was also guilty of letting the ball go easily. He had a poor pass completion rate though he had won the aerial battles and completed the tackles.
