The Cincinnati Bengals have fallen to an embarrassing 0-3 record and while Joe Burrow is at some fault, Marcus Spears doesn’t think it’s entirely his fault. That’s why, when his colleague Shannon Sharpe tried to put the entire blame on the quarterback, Speakers almost walked off the show.

The Bengals are coming off a poor loss against the Washington Commanders, for which the defense was largely blamed while the offense lived up to the standards scoring 33 points. Burrow recorded a solid game by completing 29 out of 38 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns.

During the latest episode of ESPN’s First Take, Sharpe gave a lazy analysis of the Pro Bowler quarterback’s performance against the Commanders.

He played well, not well enough to win
Shannon Sharpe claimed to which sports analyst Spears walked off the panel

Sharpe continued trash-talking Burrow by comparing him with seven-time Super Bowl champion, Tom Brady and claiming the latter always used to find ways to score victory. Despite the impressive stats when his team failed, it was obvious that Burrow would be held accountable. However, the real question is if he should be blamed for the lackings of the defense.

Marcus Spears defends Joe Burrow’s performance in Bengals’ loss to Commanders

Spears argued that Sharpe’s analysis of the Bengals’ quarterback was uncalled for as the quarterback posted more than 300 yards. The former NFL defensive end highlighted that from an offensive point of view, Burrow’s performance was utterly impressive. The reason they failed against the Commanders was that Cincinnati’s defense couldn’t keep up with star rookie Jayden Daniels

Despite such stats when his team failed, it was obvious that the quarterback would be held accountable. However, the real question is if he should be blamed for the lackings of the defense. When the hell is 300 with three touchdowns, not Superman?--Shay, he needed six touchdowns?
Marcus Spears claimed before jumping out of his chair to add

He backed his argument by highlighting the week 2’s performance by elite Patrick Mahomes against the Bengals where he led his team to the victory by scoring merely 151 yards and two picks.

Spears believes winning or losing matches doesn’t determine how well a player has performed as that depends upon the collective performance of the team. The analyst surely would want Joe Burrow’s team to turnaround the win/loss record soon, starting with the Week 4 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
