The Houston Astros made a major announcement regarding their future on Monday night. The team revealed their plans of changing the name of their home stadium from Minute Maid Park to Daikin Park from January 2025.
The American League side announced that they had agreed to a 15-year naming rights deal with Daikin Comfort Technologies. As per reports from USA Today, this company bills itself as “a leading global indoor comfort solutions provider.”
This deal is reported to come into effect from January 1, 2025, and will run till the 2039 season. While the financial details of this deal have not been revealed, it is expected that the logo of Daikin Park will go on the roof of the ballpark and the video display.
In a statement, team owner and chairman Jim Crane expressed excitement regarding this deal and claimed they are looking forward to creating special memories with them.

Terrible name. This company has virtually no footprint in this country. Just a money grab for the Astros. Nothing more. No connection to our city. Ick

The Astros will open the 2025 season at home against the New York Mets on March 27, 2025. In the 2024 season, the Astros suffered an early elimination from the postseason. They will be hoping to bounce back from this disappointment with a strong start in their renamed home stadium.
