The WWE is currently on a live event tour in Japan, covering the cities of Tokyo and Osaka. The promotion has stacked the card for these events with several native superstars, including Shinsuke Nakamura and Kairi Sane. Unfortunately, one Japanese Superstar, Asuka, was unable to wrestle at the event due to injury.

WWE hosted a SuperShow on July 25th, 2024, in the city of Osaka, Asuka’s hometown. Thankfully for her fans, the Empress of Tomorrow got to address the fans in attendance, even if she was not part of a match. Regardless, she was happy to talk to the people of her home city, which the WWE had visited after nearly six years.

The 42-year-old mentioned how she had not only won the women’s title since the last time she was in Osaka but also become a grand slam champion. She said that she had been raised by the people of that city. She credited them for her success as a professional wrestler and was filled with gratitude.

The latest Japanese tour has been a huge success for WWE. The company has not released any official numbers for the shows. However, social media rumors suggest that this has been the biggest tour organized by the promotion in the land of the rising sun. Apart from that, many superstars, like Jade Cargill, have openly talked about enjoying their time in the country.

Asuka reveals her injury status at WWE SuperShow in Japan of SummerSlam

The former Women’s Champion had allegedly suffered a knee injury during the build-up to WrestleMania XL. Despite some troubles, she put on a great match at the Show of Shows. She persisted further and wrestled until Backlash, when she dropped the Women’s Tag Team Championship to the team of Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair. After the PLE, the erstwhile Kana finally took some time off to heal.

During her latest appearance in Osaka, the 2018 Royal Rumble winner did not require any crutches to walk. She came out after Iyo Sky‘s match against Liv Morgan and even posed with her fellow Damage CTRL member on the ramp. However, it appears that the injury has not fully healed.

In the ring, Asuka revealed that she was still wearing braces on her leg. She was not fully healed and,  thus, did not have a match at the show. However, online speculations suggest that she is healing faster than usual for this type of injury.

Many expect the Empress of Tomorrow to make her return at SummerSlam. Although her current physical situation does not make this seem far-fetched, the chances are still low as Damage CTRL is currently not involved in any segment at the show.
