The Athletic Federation of India (AFI) named the Indian team for the U20 World Championship. The Championships will take place from 17 to 22 August 2021 in Nairobi, Kenya. The 28-member team, which consists of 17 boys and 11 girls, will feature in 19 different disciplines.

At the 2018 junior championships, India managed only a single medal. The lone medal came courtesy of Hima Das as she clinched the gold medal in the 400m event. With Hima’s gold the only medal, India finished 18th on the medal’s tally. Three years down the lane, India will look to put up a better performance.
