Track star Matthew Boling Crushes nation’s 100m record at US College Championships

Georgia’s track star Matthew Boling recently set the track on fire, as he broke the nation’s 100m record and ran the second fastest time in the World of the year on Friday at the FSU Relays in Tallahassee. A junior from Houston, Boling also put in an exceptional performance at the NCAA National Championships, earning him four First Team All-American honors.

Boling set a time of 10.03s in 100m, which was the third fastest wind-legal time in school history. He has run a wind-aided time of 9.97s to finish second at the 2021 SEC Outdoor Championships. On the other hand, Olympic bronze medallist Elija Godwin ran 400m in 46.34s to win the event.

Boling won his first SEC title at the Indoor Championships in the 60m event, after posting a time of 6.64s. He also went on to take second place in long jump at the SEC Indoor Track & Field Meet in Birmingham.

Boling was also responsible in breaking the school’s 4x400m relay record. He sprinted out a time of 45.51s followed by Caleb Cabanaugh (45.37s), Bryce McCray (46.77s) and Elija Godwin (44.95s) which allowed them to finish with a time of 3:02.59. On the other hand, Georgia senior Delano Dunkley clinched third in the 100m with a time of 10.38s. In the women’s 100 meters junior Brandee Presley placed third, finishing with a time of 11.53s.
