“Come out and support these students!”: Usain Bolt expresses excitement on Puma International Showcase

The 2022 Puma International Showcase is all ready to be held in Maryland soon. This is the first year of this type of athletic contest, the product of Sanjay Ayre and Juliet Campbell.
It will involve high school athletes from Jamaica and America going head to head and competing amongst the best of the best. Campbell said this meet has been in the planning stage for a long time. The goal was doing more to help track and field, especially the development. “Puma has been the major sponsor of track and field in Jamaica,” said Campbell, the Lisbon 2001 World Indoor 200m champion.

Usain Bolt talked about the Puma International Showcase and about the athletes that will be a part of the showcase. Campbell said this meet will help to expose several Jamaican young talents, though she admits affordability is preventing a lot of schools from attending this year. “Many of our youngsters, if they don’t make their Penn Relays team, Carifta Games or World Junior, don’t get to leave the country. They don’t get the exposure with their age group outside of Jamaica.”
In the video, Bolt says that the meet will be held in Maryland soon. He encourages everyone to come up and support the athletes that will be performing at the meet according to milesplit.com.
