Michael Johnson reacts to Will Smith-Chris Rock slapping incident
The shocking incident between fine actor Will Smith and comedian Chris Rock spread like wildfire on social media as members across various fraternities couldn’t resist reacting to the same. Meanwhile, former American athlete Michael Johnson was left in disbelief over a bizarre controversy at the 94th Academy Awards on Sunday.
Earlier, Smith, who won his first Oscar for a splendid role in ‘King Richard’, reacted violently after Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head during the ceremony. However, the star sprinter believes that it was all just entertainment by the “two of the smartest guys”.
The four-time Olympic gold medalist wrote on Twitter: “I’m not buying it. Those are two of the smartest guys around and they both know how to entertain better than everyone in that room combined!”
Will Smith issues apology to Chris Rock over Oscars’ slapping incident
The 53-year-old US actor has issued an apology in public for striking presenter Chris Rock at this year’s Academy Awards. In an Instagram post on Monday afternoon, Smith called his behaviour “unacceptable and inexcusable.”
Here’s is Will Smith’s full apology statement:
“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.
“I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.”
