‘He’s always the wild one of the Royal Family’: Usain Bolt opens up on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s marriage
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Usain Bolt
Usain Bolt has been synonymous with sprinting events ever since he bagged his maiden Olympic medal. An absolute superstar, Bolt has achieved a lot in his illustrious career, breaking and setting numerous records. Regarded as the fastest man ever to be born on planet earth, Bolt holds the world record in both, the 100m as well as 200m races.
With as many as 8 Olympics Gold medals to his name, Bolt has rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest celebrities in the world. The Jamaican has had the pleasure of meeting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Bolt had raced the Prince when they met in Jamaica, where the then member of the Royal Family beat the Olympic champion.
Following the race, Bolt had said that should the race have been re-run because Harry “cheated”. Four years down the lane Harry challenged the star to a rematch as he wished him on his birthday. In a tweet, he said: “Congratulations Usain Bolt – now you’re officially the greatest you might be ready for a re-run! Happy 30th.”
Usain Bolt has his say on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s marriage
Usain Bolt is known for his frank and happy go lucky attitude. And when quizzed about the Royal couple, the Jamaican gave them the nod of approval. While he was disappointed that he didn’t get to “party” with them, Bolt feels that they make a good pair.
“I think everybody is happy because he’s always the wild one of the Royal Family, but he’s really cool. I’m sorry I didn’t get to party with him before. She’s definitely a nice girl,” he told Hello! Magazine.
Usain Bolt, who already has his statue in front of Jamaica’s National Stadium, is all set to be honoured with a statue yet again. This time around it is South Florida which will be honouring the legendary sprinter with a life-sized bronze statue. The sculpture is set to be funded in part by the Art in Public Places Fund as well as the Art in the Parks capital project and is expected to be ready to be mounted by October 2022.
