Bolt has had an illustrious career studded with eight Olympic gold medals, 11 World Championship gold medals among the 23 gold medals he bagged along with numerous world records. The Jamaican hung his boots in 2017.

Usain has no plans of returning to the field competitively. However, he will make a brief comeback on the field for the Running World Cup 2021. Interestingly, it’s open for anyone around the world and started on the 21st of September and the finals will be held between 5th to 10th October 2021.

The World Cup is the world’s first global virtual running event you get to run for your country. It is the biggest virtual mass participation event, open to everyone aged 13yrs+. One can participate no matter their ability or where they are from and represent your country. Participants need to complete a minimum 3Km run within 30 minutes to qualify a run in the event.

For a country to progress in the World Cup it needs to be in the top 16 after the Qualifiers have ended and in the top four at the end of the Round of 16 to get through to the Finals. Participants can participate if they have their own smartphone/smartwatch or access to one.
