Atlanta Hawks maintain their composure to beat San Antonio Spurs in 2nd OT

Clint Capela and Trae Young both had double-double scores, knocking 28 points each for the Atlanta Hawks in their latest victory over San Antonio Spurs in 2nd OT. Hawks beat Spurs 134-129. Bogdan Bogdanovic also had 28 points for the Hawks. Young scored 15 of his 28 points in the extended period as the Hawks ended their 2-game losing streak.
Talking about San Antonio Spurs, veteran DeMar DeRozan had 36 points and nine assists and Derrick White had a career-high seven 3-pointers en route to 29 points.
Atlanta Hawks get the better of San Antonio Spurs in 2nd OT 134-129
Danilo Gallinari’s 3-pointer put Atlanta up 133-129 with 11.8 seconds remaining in the second overtime after Rudy Gay’s 3 pulled San Antonio within a point. Young added a free throw to seal it.
San Antonio closed the final 3 1/2 minutes of regulation on a 9-3 run to force the initial overtime.
DeRozan tied it at 110 with 2.7 seconds remaining with a short jumper. Young had a driving runner roll off the rim as regulation ended. Young responded with seven points in the initial overtime. Gay tied it at 119 in overtime on a 3-pointer with 59.1 seconds remaining. Following missed shots by Young and White, the Hawks failed to get a shot off on their final possession before time expired in overtime.
Young responded with another seven points in the second overtime, including a 3-pointer that put the Hawks up 130-124 with 1:18 remaining. White’s seventh 3-pointer pulled the Spurs within 98-97 with 6:18 remaining and Murray’s 3-point play cut the Hawks’ lead to 109-108 with 15 seconds remaining.
The Hawks focused on their interior defense in response to a Spurs team that likes to drive to the basket. San Antonio was unable to respond, going 13 for 40 on 3-pointers.
