Atletico Madrid forwards Joao Felix tests Covid positive


Atletico Madrid have confirmed that their 21-year old forward has tested positive for the coronavirus. He has become the 3rd latest Atletico player to test positive for the virus in the last week.
Defender Mario Hermoso and winger Yannick Carrasco each have tested positive last week. Diego Simeone will have a selection dilemma in his next match as all these players are expected to be out for atleast 10 days.

An official statement on the Atletico’s Twitter account reads: “Our player Joao Felix has tested positive for Covid-19.
“He’s isolating at home, in compliance with the health authorities’ guidelines.”
Felix played 60 minutes in Atletico’s 4-2 win over Cadiz at the weekend in La Liga. He looked fine in the match but tested positive in the club’s latest round of Covid tests.
Felix will be out for Atletico for their upcoming La Liga fixtures against Celta Vigo and Granada. He can be out of quarantine by the time they take in a trip Levante on February 16.
He will only be cleared to play in that fixture after a passing a negative test. Simeone will hope to have all 3 players fit for their Champions’ league clash against Chelsea on 24th February.
Atletico are flying high in La Liga and are 10 points clear of rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid. They also have a game in hand over their rivals.
