There have been a number of reports in the media regarding the transfer of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Arsenal. Jason Pettigrove of Caught Offside has now reported that Atletico Madrid are interested in signing the out-of-favor Arsenal star. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was one of the main reasons why Zinchenko signed for the Gunners in the summer transfer window of 2022.
The Spanish manager was impressed with the qualities and performances of the player during his tenure at Manchester City. However, the Ukrainian has struggled during his time at the Emirates Stadium off late. Myles Lewis-Skelly has grown in stature and has been a regular on the first team. Hence, Zinchenko has gone down the pecking order.
He has appeared in eight matches this season in the Premier League, playing a total of 239 minutes, which has definitely not pleased the player. Riccardo Calafiori can also play as a left-back. Hence, Zinchenko has lost his spot in the Arsenal team. He was interested in fighting for his spot first, but has now resigned to the fact that he has to leave the club for game time.
Atletico Madrid wants him at their club as Diego Simeone wants to strengthen his defensive line and considers Zinchenko as one who could fit their system. Moreover, the player is versatile and can also play in the midfield. Arsenal will also be ready to offload him. As such, the La Liga club have a great chance of signing him and strengthening the team for the back half of the season.
Benjamin Sesko or Alexander Isak are more likely to join Arsenal than Viktor Gyokeres
It is well known that the Gunners want to sign a striker as they are looking for consistent goal scorers. Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have struggled to score consistently, and recently Jesus and Bukayo Saka have been sidelined with injuries. The club have been linked to quite a number of strikers, and recently they have failed with their bid for Ollie Watkins.
The club have been linked to the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres, and Alexander Isak for quite some time. Journalist Ben Jacobs has stated that Sesko is the most likely signing for the Gunners. However, it is more likely that Isak has a better chance of moving to the Emirates Stadium than Gyokeres.
He feels that Gyokeres might not be moving to Arsenal unless he is given perfect assurance that he will be starting for Arsenal week in and week out. Jacobs feels that Sesko is priority number one followed by Isak of Newcastle United. Only time will tell who the club signs in the future.
