Tsitsipas has been good this season, without being great. More than anything else the top seed would like to add another ATP Trophy to his collection. At the Acapulco this time, Tsitsipas has played some decent tennis. In the first round he disposed of Frenchman Benoît Paire 6-3 6-1. Tall American John Isner was his victim in the second round.

Tsitsipas beat him in straight sets 6-3 6-2. The real test Tsitsipas faced was in the Quarterfinals against Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime. The Canadian took a set off Tsitsipas but eventually lost the match 7-5 4-6 6-3. Tsitsipas will face nineteen year old  Lorenzo Musetti in the Semifinals. Musetti who is currently ranked no.120 in the world, had to play the Qualifiers to reach the main draw of the Acapulco Open.

In the main draw, he faced third seed Diego Schwartzman in the first round. A three set thriller that Musetti won in three sets. In the second round, Musetti overcame the hard hitting American Frances Tiafoe, in three sets. The Quarterfinals set saw him get the better of fifth seed Grigor Dimitrov 6-4 7-6.
