Khachanov had the best year of his career in 2018, where he won three ATP Titles. The ATP 1000 in Paris, the ATP 250 in Moscow and again the ATP 250 in Marseille. Khachanov has not won any titles since. The Russian 6 foot 6 inch star, who resides in Dubai, has had a decent start to 2021.

He reached the third round of the Australian Open, where he got beaten by Italian Matteo Berrettini in straight sets. After that, he reached the Quarter Final of two more competitions, the Rotterdam Open and the Open 13. In his first tournament on clay this year, the Monte Carlo Open, he lost in the round of thirty-two to Pablo Carreño Busta. Khachanov had a bye in the first round, in the second he will face British player Cameron Norrie.

Norrie is twenty-five and has been on the circuit a few years now, but an ATP Title has eluded him till now. This season though he has not done too badly. It started with his third round appearance at the US Open, he beat Diego Schwartzman in the first round.

Then he reached the Quarter Final of the St. Petersburg Open, the European Open, the Mexican Open and in between the Semi-finals of the Delray Beach Open as well. In the first round of the competition he has beaten the Italian player Salvatore Caruso in straight sets, 6-1 6-2.
